Jennifer “Jenny” Marie Banfai of Kingston, Ontario, is being remembered with profound sadness after she was killed in a motor vehicle accident on September, 2026. She was 37 years old. Her sudden passing has left her husband, young children, parents, relatives, friends, colleagues, and students grieving a loss that came far too soon.
Jenny leaves behind her husband, Chris McKendy, and two young children, Tommy, who is 3, and baby Lillian, who was only about two and a half months old. She is also survived by her mother, Michèle Macartney-Filgate, her father, Geza Banfai, her brother Thomas Banfai, and stepbrother Alexander Karakatsanis, along with a wide circle of friends, teaching colleagues, and students. The closeness of her family and the young children she leaves behind make the loss especially painful for those mourning her.
